Sick again!

Well, after a very fun weekend, Russell and I both got sick. Russell woke up early Monday morning with a stomach bug and I had a sinus headache, fever and chills. Needless to say, we didn't go to work yesterday. Of course, when Camden found out that we were staying home, he wanted to stay home too. We both felt so yucky and weak that there was no way we could have managed with a 4 year at home too!! He went to Memaw Dorothy's at about 9:00 until 2:30ish. Russell and I laid in bed all day and tried to feel better. By that evening, we still weren't better and got winded just getting up!! Poor Camden was a trooper with 2 sick parents though!! He's such a good boy!! Neither one of us felt good this morning but I dragged myself into to work and Russell stayed home. We're both feeling a little better now--thank goodness!! It's been a very long time since either of us has been that sick! Now, we just need to keep it away from Camden!!

I'll post more about our fun weekend later.

So proud!

When I picked Camden up from school yesterday, his teacher told me that he was the best boy in the classroom all day! I was so proud and so was Camden! He's pretty good all the time but like all kids, he has his wild days!! In his classroom, they have a system that if they get 10 smiley faces in a row, they get to pick something out of the prize box. This is very popular and Camden loves to pick something. He filled up his entire card and his teacher sent it home yesterday. Here he is posing with it (he insisted on smiling this way)...

The funniest thing though was when he was showing it to Russell last night. He held it behind his back and wanted Russell to pick a hand. Well, Russell would pick a hand and Camden would say "Are you sure?" and Russell would say "Yeah". Camden then said "Are you $100 sure?". We both cracked up!! I think he meant: "Are you 100% sure?". He's such a funny boy!!!

Star Coordinator Award

I attended the annual United Way Appreciation Breakfast yesterday morning and was surprised to receive an award!! I, along with another person from my company, received the Star Coordinator Award (13 people total in the area received this award).

We received this award for running a terrific workplace campaign for 2008!! It was hard work and very frustrating at times but well worth it. We couldn't have done it without a great support team.

Now if I can just pull off this golf tournament to benefit the United Way, I'll be a happy girl (this is actually my 4th year doing it but with the economic times, it's been challenging to raise money)!

Batman!!!

I was cooking supper the other night and Camden came up behind me and startled me. He had been up in his room playing and decided to change into his pajamas. Lately he loves to change his clothes by himself. Anyway, he came up behind me and said "Mom" and I jumped and turned around and this is what I saw:

He had put on regular pajama bottoms, a batman pajama shirt, his batman mask and a belt that his cousin Carter gave him. He was pretending to be a super hero!!

So after I took these pictures, he wanted to pretend he was flying for the camera. We did this not long ago for his birthday invitations--he put on his batman pajamas (cape included) and mask, stood in a chair and jumped off. I took the picture while he was in mid-air so it really looked like he was flying. I let him jump off the chair a few times for the camera...

I promise, he didn't land on his face in this one. In fact, he landed on his feet everytime!

Girl's Day!!!

My Mom & Dad are leaving Thursday for a cruise and will be gone for 12 days! If you know me, you know how close I am with my family. I'm really going to miss them and the worst part is, I can't even talk to Mom while she's gone (I usually talk to her at least once a day)!! So, I decided that Mom and I needed a Girl's Day out before she left. The idea was to go out for breakfast and then get pedicures. Well, that changed. We started out shopping and decided that we had too much to shop for so we had a quick Subway lunch and shopped all day.

I was thankful that Russell and Camden spent the day together so I could have this day with Mom. It was really fun and brought back memories when the 2 of us used to shop every Saturday together.

Anyway, thanks Mom for a fun day together! We'll have to go for pedicures and breakfast after your trip!

TGIF!!

I'm so glad it's Friday!!! I'm ready for the weekend--ready to relax! Russell is feeling better -- he had his yearly case of strep throat this week. I'm just hoping that Camden doesn't get it. Camden woke up this morning saying he didn't feel good. When I asked him what hurt, he said nothing hurt, that he just had a bad coughie :) He's so funny.

Deal of the day!!!

I've been sick for about a week and a half and haven't been sleeping at night. I finally broke down and went to the doctor yesterday. Turns out I have a Sinus Infection. My doctor gave me 2 medicines to help me feel better - an antibiotic and a cough syrup to help me sleep at night.

I went to CVS yesterday to get them filled and I had 2 coupons for a $25 gift card for new prescriptions (if you know me, you know how much I love coupons). I didn't think they would let me use both coupons but it doesn't hurt to ask! Anyway, I picked up Camden early and off we went to CVS. They were extremely busy and after waiting 45 minutes, my medicine was finally ready. The lady there was very nice and let pay for my medicine separately so I could use both coupons (Yay)!!

1st prescription cost = $5
Received $25 gift card

2nd prescription cost = $35 (!!)
Used 1st $25 gift card so prescription only cost me $10
Received $25 gift card

Since I had Camden with me and he was such a patient boy, I let him pick out a small toy (not much to choose from at CVS but he found something). I got a couple other things and went to the front of the store to check out. I had a $2 coupon so my total was $5 all together, which I paid for with part of my 2nd gift card!!! So, after both prescriptions and a couple other things, I actually made money (well, CVS money)!!

A dreary weekend!

Since the weather was so gloomy over the weekend, we stayed home and stayed dry! None of really felt good so we lounged most of Saturday and by Saturday afternoon, we were bored. I was cleaning around in the kitchen and Camden found his paint set that Santa had brought him. He has a cabinet in the kitchen that he keeps his crayons, coloring books, activities, etc -- things that he can do while I'm cooking dinner or whatever. I don't know how he missed seeing the paint set for 3 months but I'm glad he did. Anyway, he wanted to paint while I cleaned so I saw an opportunity for some pictures. I only took 2 cause it didn't take him long to make a mess. His idea of painting is swirling all of the colors together at one time. I was very proud of him though because he kept his mess to his hands and the paper towels that I had laid down. Luckily, it came off of his hands very easily.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I hope you're having a great St. Patrick's Day! I explained the holiday to Camden this morning and he later he told Russell "Happy Patrick's Day!". I think he thinks it has something to do with Spongebob but I'm not sure. It was sure cute though.

Much needed hair cut

If you've been wondering why Camden has been wearing his NYY hat in every picture lately, it's because he desperately needed a hair cut (his hair grows so fast!). We stopped by Grandma’s for a quick hair cut last night.
Mom is the only one who has ever cut his hair. This is probably the first time ever that we didn't have to bribe him to sit still (lollipops work very well as long as they stay in his mouth)!

Ok, he still didn't sit completly still but he did pretty good.

All done--yay!! Looks so much better!!

Dentist visit

Well, we found out in November that Camden had a pretty bad cavitity. Unfortunately, no matter how well we had brushed and flossed, it still happened (teeth problems are heredity, did you know that)? Luckily, Russell’s sister Melisa works at a pediatric dental clinic and helped us out. We made the trip to her office today to get the "cavity bugs" out.

Grandma made the trip with us (thank goodness, cause teeth make me nervous).

This is Aunt Melisa giving Camden his pep talk!

Checking to make sure his pulse & blood pressure were ok. He liked seeing the monitor show the results.

Look at my cute, brave boy!!!

Since the cavity was so deep, they gave him laughing gas (which is why they had to take his BP & pulse). He didn't mind this and was such a brave boy!! It was sort of funny hearing the things he would say though (like "I look like a clown"). He did not like their friend Mr. Bumpy though!!

After all this, they determined that the cavity had reached the nerve. So, the best way to fix this is to have him go to OR and put to sleep (this will happen in May, probably). It's far less traumatic for him and they can fix his tooth a lot easier. It is probably going to be way worse on me!!

Picnic at the Peaks

Since the weather was so nice on Sunday, we decided to take Camden on a picnic at the Peaks of Otter. He was very excited all day and we (well I) was excited too! We packed our lunch and gathered up the required frisbee, football and bat/baseball and off we went.

Can't you see how excited he looks??

Looking for a bathroom...

Ok, I just thought this was cute.

This is the exact same place I took my bridal portraits. Same rock and everything!

We walked around the lake and Camden started getting tired. Good thing Dad was there to give him a ride!

After our picnic, we decided to go visit Memaw & Margaret (Celia wasn't home). We thought Camden was just tired but when we stopped at the store to get ice cream to take with us, he said he was sick (when he heard we were getting ice cream, of course he said he felt better). However, as soon as we stopped at Memaw's, he threw up. I thought it was car sickness from the winding turns on the Peaks but it turns out it was virus complete with a fever. Luckily that was the only time he threw up and by today he's as good as new!

Pancakes anyone?

We decided to take Camden on a picnic yesterday at the Peaks of Otter. I asked him yesterday morning what he wanted to pack for our picnic lunch and he said "Pancakes". I decided to make them for breakfast instead. He loves to help me cook so he scooted his stool over to the counter ready to help!

I told him to smile for the camera and of course he had to show his new Bakugan's.

This boy can crack an egg better than I can!

Anyway, the pancakes were pretty good for breakfast and we had sandwiches on our picnic. More about the picnic later.

Testing

I'm just testing my new blog. Bear with me as I learn to use this thing :)
